FIRE ESCAPE LADDER - INSTALLATION
We offer two types of Fire Escape Ladder - Portable and Fixed.
Portable Fire Escape Ladder - Installation
The Chubb and First Alert fire escape ladders are designed to be stored away in a box until required for use. All our portable fire escape ladders come fully assembled and ready for use. They are supplied in a cardboard box that can be stored under a bed or in a cupboard that is easily accessible in an emergency. Open the window, simply remove the ladder from the box, open out the hooks and place over the windowsill so that the hook is in contact with both the inside and outside walls. Release the strap and drop the ladder outside the window. The ladder is now ready for use. Full instructions are provided with each ladder.
Fixed Fire Escape Rope Ladder - Installation
The Banks fixed fire escape rope ladder is designed to be permantly fixed in position ready for use. These ladders are supplied complete with all fixings, fitting instructions and templates and can be fitted in less than an hour with simple DIY skills. The ladder is best screwed to the brick wall below the window. For loft/Velux windows where there is not a suitable brick wall fixing, the ladder can be fixed to secure velux window support timbers or secure timbers at skirting board level.
Simply use the template to mark the fixing holes in the desired position. Drill the required holes. Screw the fire escape ladder box and bolt the rope loops to the wall/timbers. Slide the box down to cover the bolts. Attach the optional sticker to the box. Note: the box containing the fire escape ladder must Not be opened at any time during installation.
